Since 2016, HealthConnect One and Healthy Children Project, Inc. have partnered in order to offer lactation counselor training course (LCTC) scholarships to community-based doulas and breastfeeding peer counselors, allowing them to become Certified Lactation Counselors upon successful completion of the CLC examination.

As a mother of three breastfed children, Thaneshia Newby always encourages expectant mothers to breastfeed based on the well-documented, evidence-based benefits of breastfeeding and her own experience.

Newby cites her CLC certification as a true accomplishment and believes it has advanced her knowledge and proficiency in the field. Her personal mission has always been to promote the importance of breastfeeding and encourage it to be the norm, which is perfectly aligned with the scope of a CLC. In her role as a CLC, Newby helps mothers every day in feeling more confident about their ability to breastfeed and nourish their children.
