Felisha Floyd, BS, CLC, IBCLC, RLC is a founding member and President of the National Association of Professional & Peer Lactation Supports of Color (NAPPLSC). As a lactation professional, she also serves as the Breastfeeding Coordinator at the Florida Department of Health with the WIC program. In her own private practice, Felisha provides breastfeeding counseling and support to families and individuals.
The comprehensive lactation support that she provides to her own clients is also shared with healthcare professionals when Felisha trains them through her workshops. She passes her knowledge along so that others can share evidence-based information about breastfeeding with families seeking support.
Floyd’s work in the equity field is impressive and extremely relevant to the current landscape. She received the Legacy Award from the Unites States Breastfeeding Committee (USBC) for her work in reducing disparities in breastfeeding in the African American community.
Her passion in her efforts to increase breastfeeding rates in the African American community has earned her the title ‘Blactavist’ (Black Lactation Activist) – supported by an online community group page and strong social media page.
