This week, we are celebrating the Inaugural Deaf and Hard of Hearing Breastfeeding Week, announced by the DC Breastfeeding Coalition! The 2026 theme is: Close the Gap, Strengthen the Bridge: Community, Care & Connection, and will be recognized from September 16-22, 2026.

As an allied partner with the Deaf community, the DC Coalition fostered the initiation of the first ever Deaf and Hard of Hearing Breastfeeding Collective. The purpose of this initiative is to provide the nation's marginalized and underrepresented Deaf community with accessible breastfeeding education, support, and community, because language and breastfeeding access matters from birth!
