A new edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) is under development, and for the first time ever, these guidelines will include nutrition recommendations for infants, toddlers, and pregnant and lactating parents.
With just a few clicks, you can help demonstrate support for:
Aligning with all major medical authorities by recommending six months of exclusive breastfeeding followed by continued breastfeeding with complementary feeding
Focusing on evidence-based science that includes studies of diverse populations, and looks at both long and short term health outcomes differentiated by levels of breastfeeding duration and exclusivity
Taking steps to ensure that the recommendations and development process are free of industry bias
Identifying strategies for supporting breastfeeding and reducing disparities in breastfeeding rates
By submitting public comments you can help to shape the next five years of federal nutrition policy to improve the health and well-being of all families in the United States!
Please note that responding to public comment opportunities is not lobbying. The federal government is actively soliciting your input to inform its decision-making.
Together, we can make sure that families have access to the resources they need.
